The Straumann Digital Workflow is an advanced dental prosthesis technology that helps us here at Good Samaritan Dental Implant Institute provide the highest quality care to our patients from the initial consultation all the way through care to the finished and ideal dental implant situation. Whenever a patient comes to us for implant treatment we use the Straumann Workflow to plan every step of their care digitally. Using intraoral scans, 3D study models and CBCT scans, we are able to plan the case from start to finish. This method allows us to understand where an implant is to be placed, what kind of implant is needed, and whether a bone graft may be required.

Straumann Digital Workflow in Action

We recently had a patient who had very poor dentition, bone loss, gum disease, staining, and crowding. It was just overall not a very good dental situation. We took an x-ray and saw that the condition of the patient – a lot of bone loss around the teeth, gum disease, loose teeth, abscessed teeth, were problems that just weren’t amenable to fixing with normal dental procedures. So after some consideration, we decided that they would be better off with having all of the teeth removed and going into either a denture, which is a removable prosthesis, or an implant retained prosthesis where the new teeth are actually supported by implants.

Dental Care Simplified

We took the patient to the operating room and decided that we were going to remove all of the teeth with the help of a 3D printed surgical guide. This guide allows us to precisely place the implants and the jawbones exactly where we want them. We took the patient to the operating room, removed all of the teeth, and put the implants to the bone grafting. When it was all said and done we went from old rotten teeth that weren’t serviceable to brand new implants supporting new teeth the following day.
